Tollywood -Telugu Cinema all time Queens
70's and Before
Our Picks: Savitri, Jamuna, Bhanumathi, Anajali Devi
The Golden age of Telugu Cinema. Telugu cinema was clean. Great social and historical themes will be remembered for ever as long as telugu cinema exists. These stars lived on performace unlinke the present stars who are mostly used just for glamour.
Other stars include Kannambha, Kanchanamala, Krishna Kumari, Kanchana, etc
80's
Our Picks: Jayasudha, Jayapradha, Sridevi, Radha
With the introduction of color to cinema, the transition to glamour started during this period. Sridevi was still young and continued with the next generation. With the quality of the movies and stories going down, the stars became more and more glamorous.
Other stars include Vanisri, Lakshmi, Radhika, Suhasini etc
The 90's
Our Picks: Vijayashanthi, Ramya Krishna, Soundharya, Roja
Only few stars were able to survive the fully pledged glamour days with their performance. Times were getting tough for the female stars in the hero dominant cinema field. Vijayashanthi and Soundharya gave a second life to female oriented roles and proved that there is still chance for real acting.
Other stars include Meena, Nagma, Bhanu Priya, Aamani, Rambha etc
The New Century
Our Picks: Anushka, Bhoomika, Genelia, Charmy
Telugu Cinema is still struggling to get heroines who are from telugu origin due to the amount of exposing required. Its been nearly a decade that we started importing stars from North. Only a few started to settle just in time. These stars with their acting skills are making us feel that there is no difference in region. Arundhathi, Mantra, Bommarillu and Missamma are few examples. Directors should have learnt by now that just glamour alone can not save the movie.
Other stars include Shreya, Trisha, Nayanatara, Arthi Agarwal.
